What Wonderful People!

So often I am cooped up in my little home and tend to think, thanks to the news, that there is so many terrible people in this world. However, when I go out into my community, I encounter so much goodness and kindness. Just a few...

  • Miguel R who works at Panera Bread is the most incredible man ever. He always is so kind to my children and gives them high fives, holds the door for me, gets me a high chair when needed, and always cleans up our dishes. He is incredible and I go there just to see him. He makes us happy! Every restaurant needs a Miguel. (I did write a letter to the manager and to headquarters, he is that amazing!)
  • The garbage men always push my garbage can up to my front door. I'm not sure why, but ours is the only garbage can that is not left in the middle of the parking lot. Even more incredible today is that we forgot to take out our full garbage and they came up to our garage, grabbed it, and emptied it for us. We rushed out and thanked them profusely... they said they wanted to make sure it was empty because they wouldn't be by again until Tuesday. What amazing men! I need to write them a thank you note but do I address it as Dear Garbage Men, Dear Men who Empty our Garbage, or Dear Sanitary Workers??? I appreciate input!
  • My son's preschool teachers are the most amazing women ever. Today was our last day and I almost shed tears because I am so sad that Logan will not have them again. Curtis and I KNOW this preschool is an answer to our prayers and one of the best decisions we have made. Logan has blossomed and thrived. I can't even begin to find the words to describe how thankful I am for them. If you are looking for a preschool, Calvary Lutheran is your place!
  • The hairdresser who cut Logan's hair today. She was so kind and amazing to him. She even got him to use the clippers for his tail and sideburns. It's a miracle!!!
  • The man who picked up the quarter off the road and gave it to Logan. Such a nice person!
  • All the people who hold doors for me when I am trying to come in or exit a building with two kids.
  • Anja Burton who always watches my children and loves them like her own. We love her!
  • Kirsten Slaugh who knew Logan is in love with tornadoes and called us to let us know there was a NOVA documentary on tornadoes. When she found out that we couldn't get the station, she searched the internet and sent us the link for the documentary. So, so, so kind and thoughtful!

I love this community and love the kindness that people still have! People are still good... just do not watch or read the news! I just decided I should only read the good news station!

I hope you have wonderful people in your life!

The Shore

A few weeks ago we ventured to Atlantic City. We had a blast visiting the Cape May Zoo and frolicking on the beach. We walked the boardwalk a few times, I swear I have never been more afraid of someone snatching my children. Weird and crazy people walk the Atlantic City boardwalk!

Adventure

Of course, when travelling, we often have some adventures! Hannah decided to unpack a bag I just packed. She is very helpful!

Logan decided to accidentally dump M & M's down his shorts on I-95. Good times!

The Ocean

Hannah loved to tell the waves to "stop" coming up to us.

Lucy the Elephant!

We went to the top of Lucy, who is just outside Atlantic City. It is so cute because now Hannah points out every elephant that she sees.

The Zoo!

The End

We ate at the Rainforest Cafe... the food was horrible, however, the setting was fun!... Note to adults... it is not worth the money!!!

Ahhh, finally rest.

Curtis and I went through quite the toe injuries... he really jammed and cut his and I decided to probably break one of mine. It was good times, but thankfully the kids came out unscathed.

Until the next getaway!

Fleeting Moments

So many times a picture brings so much emotion... this is one of them. It reminds me that time is fleeting. One day, this little girl will not lay her head on my shoulder, full of confidence, that her mother will comfort her sadness and carry her to safety. She will not always be this little and her cuddles may become fewer and far between. Oh, how I love this girl and wish she could stay my little girl forever more. What a blessing it is to be a mother and experience this love and bond between a parent and child.

Simple Things...

The Simple Woman's Daybook

Today

Outside my window... gray, gloomy weather.

I am thinking... I miss the days when I had 3-4 hours of quiet because of napping children.

I am thankful... that we are going away this weekend! I can't wait... 6 more hours.

In the kitchen... not much going on because I'm not cooking tonight!

I am wearing... gray sweat pants with a red shirt, the nice clothes come on later.

I am creating... an organized and clean desk!

I am going... to the ocean!

I am wondering... what to have for lunch, really deep isn't it!

I am reading... Survival Mom

I am hoping... for an awesome thunderstorm today... just before we leave.

I am looking forward to... rest, relaxation, and fun this weekend.

I am learning... to be patient with my children when I am tired.

Around the house... toys are everywhere.

I am pondering... Alma 30 and the ways of the world.

A peek into my day... Barney, yogurt, airplanes, shapes, grumpiness, and happiness.

A picture...

What? You Are In The Hospital?

{Don't you love Instagram... easiest way to take pictures!}

I had a lovely birthday with Curtis being admitted to the hospital. For several days, he was in extreme pain. He had visited the doctor, but it continued to get worse. Finally, instead of a morning of crepes, we went to the ER and almost immediately was admitted. Thankfully it was nothing too serious... just an infection... however, they had to do a small surgery to open it. They also needed to grow it and see what antibiotic killed it... which led to a four day stay in the hospital. Poor Curtis was so bored and high on antibiotics. I wasn't able to visit long each day because I had a little Hannah (Logan was in MD) who didn't really like to hang out. She was more interested in getting into trouble. Curtis finally came home with an open wound, which in turn, granted my so not life long dream of being a nurse . After the first few dressing changes, I wasn't so shaky and nervous... thankfully, it is healing and hopefully Curtis will be back to normal soon!

It's always good to be reminded how thankful we are for our health. I don't think there is anything more scarier than having someone near and dear being struck with a terrible illness.

Now, we just get to pay those wonderful doctor bills!
